Syallabus

Work in this class will be dived into five modules, each focuing on a particular skill set or technology

Module 1: Basics of Drawing, Modeling and Rendering

  • understanding the Rhino interface
  • drawing in 2D and 3D
  • modeling, drawing, and rendering an existing chair
Module 2: CNC Machining
  • understanding core concepts of 3 axis machining
  • basic toolpath creation with MasterCAM
  • material preparation, fixturing and finishing
Module 3: Advanced Modeling Techniques
  • complex geometry
  • “manifold” surfaces
  • basic scripting
  • flat patterns from developable surfaces
Module 4: Modeling for production
  • Advanced Modeling techniques
  • understanding of industrial plastic forming technologies
  • basic simulation technologies
  • rapid prototyping
  • Photorealistic rendering
